Sue and I visited Almeria for the first time in early 2014.
We were so lucky to meet Jesus soon after we arrived, as we then joined him on 4 of his different trips.
Every one was wonderful, we learned so much about the region, it’s natural beauty and wildlife, the people and their culture, the food and drink…
Perhaps even more importantly, we found a new good friend, who we stay in regular contact with.
Jesus’s knowledge, enthusiasm and personality are very special indeed.
We often show family and friends all the photos we took and discuss all our enjoyable experiences with Jesus in Almeria.
Until our next visit, thank you once again and good luck Jesus.

Much appreciated your feedback, my deared friends. This is really the magic thing in RESPONSIBLE TOURISM. That finally you have not clients, but friends. Looking forward for your next visit, hoping it will be soon.

Jesus knows Almeria like the back of his hand. Thanks to him, I discovered Arab terraces, mysterious mountain ranges, slate villages, fosselized beaches, the white headed duck, neolithic traces and much more. He leads the way with a generous dose of kindness and humor.

    • Jesus Contreras July 3, 2015 at 8:44 pm #

Much appreciated your words Barbara. And slate, clay and gypsum… were also found in abundance during your visits. Always very welcome back. Jesus

Eva-Karin and I consider this is a good initiative to spread information about a fantastic area. We for sure agree with your presentation of yourself as a guide with wide knowledge. We have greatly appreciated what you have shown us of in the Nature of South-East Spain, including lots of interesting and amazing bird experiences, as well as culture and history of the area. And we do not forget the readiness of you to show what we wanted to see and the joy of spending days with you.

We feel honoured to be depicted in your new blog.

    • Jesus Contreras July 4, 2015 at 4:20 pm #

Thanks for your much appreciated comments, dear Lars & Ewa Karin. You have passed to the upper category that is above “clients”. Now you are friends and always very welcome.

Really much appreciated and thanks for letting me to share photos of those unique moments while travelling with you.

Mike, Joel, Donna & I cannot thank you enough for such a fantastic day in Almeria, Mojacar & the other beautiful white villages we visited with you! It was really a treat seeing this beautiful & unexpected different terrain of Spain through your eyes. We can’t wait to re-watch the movies that were filmed in this region! You were very accommodating and took a genuine concern of our needs…like a true friend would! The coastal area where we had lunch was spectacular! We will absolutely recommend you to our friends and really hope to cross paths in the future

    • Jesus Contreras July 12, 2015 at 12:10 pm #

Dear Helaine, Mike, Joel & Donna. Thanks so much for your words that are very welcome. I enjoyed a lot designing this tailored trip for you. Now you know “Almeria-in-my-eyes” and also “Almeria-in-Jul”. Take always the first option for the future; summer is too warm in this Mediterranean coast. Anyway, you/we did the trip; really a GREAT group.

Always welcome back you and anyone in your name.

What can I say about the man?
You get it all with this guy, expert knowledge of birds, plants, insects, the history of the region, the Amazigh (Berber) culture, he even does movies locations and believe me there are plenty in Almeria.
Taking a tour with Jesus is a joy, his warm and easy going nature, very good English and sense of humour will make any tour a real pleasure and something to remember.
    You can’t really go wrong.
Thanks Jesus for making me fall in love with Almeria 😉

With my wife Helen and family and friends we have visited the Almeria region for many years. We stay at the HPB private Villas and Apparment at Alfaix and this is where we first met Jesus. Over the past 4 years we have enjoyed many trips with Jesus and as well as a wonderful guide he has become a very good friend. With him we have learned so much of the coulture, geology, history and wildlife ( including Bonelli’s Eagle and Vultures )of this facinating region, always explained with great knowledge and enthusiasm. He knowledge of every tiny village and byway is fantastic and we have had may very good tapas lunches over the years in places we never could have found for ourselves.
Many thanks for sharing all this with us and we look forward to many trips in the furture
Best regards amigo. Trevor and Helen, family and friends.

Jesus has such a special way to show his country, culture, and beautiful landscapes that it is difficult not to fall in love with. I understand why he loves it so much and does not want to leave it. Anyone traveling with Jesus will feel the same. He knows how to communicate his passion and make any trip a wonderful adventure. Jesus asked me why I love Spain. I love Andalusia because of people like him who makes this country so special and unique. Jesus, you are the best ambassador I have met!
    Muchas gracias and hasta luego.

    • Jesus Contreras February 11, 2017 at 6:58 pm #

Always welcome, Laurence. Thanks so much for your comments. Always welcome back…

  11. Ann Harper February 15, 2017 at 8:27 pm #

We had a very interesting and enjoyable day – we enjoyed the wide variety of the beautiful countryside – hard to choose the best bit but the top of the mountain at the observatory was especially beautiful. Jesus is full of fascinating information about the countryside, the geology, the birds, the plants and the people of this region, which he clearly loves deeply and loves to pass on his enthusiasm. The tapas lunch was delicious and we also enjoyed meeting some of the villagers and seeing your own village and old home – it felt like we were seeing a glimpse of real Spain not tourist Spain and that was a very special part of the trip.
Thanks for a really great day and we hope to be back in Almeria soon for another trip!

Dear Ann and rest of my irish friends. Thanks for your kind words and be always very welcome. This Almeria, that I consider as my “back garden” is always surprising. Thanks for your visit and kind words. Jesus

  12. Angela & Roger February 16, 2017 at 9:08 pm #

We’ve experienced 2 excellent trips with Jesus this year, and everything about his trips has already been said about the very personal touch that he gives. Jesus has shared very special birding areas with us, his knowledge of everything natural and the love of his home Almeria, and it just makes us want to learn more! To all our questions we get a thoughtful and considered answer and we will return with even more next year as we explore this amazing region again. Thank you for very memorable days out Jesus and for lots of laughter, we look forward to seeing more Bonnellieseagulls in the future!

    • Jesus Contreras February 16, 2017 at 9:56 pm #

Always in my heart, dear Roger and Angela. Hope you found new birds in the places I recommended to you. Meet you soon and keep in touch.

Thanks so much for such nice comments.

We have just come back from our third trip with Jesus and can’t recommend him highly enough. What he doesn’t know about Almeria is not worth knowing. He took us to places that we would never have discovered without him and his remarkable and extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, geology, culture and history makes you appreciate the area all the more. His enthusiasm and warmth are contagious. His approach to guiding is unique – he doesn’t just point things out but explains and puts things in context. He is full of ideas and suggestions. The trip was the highlight of a wonderful holiday. We cannot wait until next year for another trip with him.

    • Jesus Contreras November 1, 2017 at 5:00 pm #

Thanks so much Catrin, Toni and Niah … and this time to Luca. Always in my heart. Is really special travelling with you. Guide, lamdscape and visitors are altogether the mixture that is required for building a great experience. Best wishes to my little princess. Jesus
